Your donations to The Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans are always welcomed and are an integral part of the success of our organization. You can make a general financial donation in one of three ways listed on the right. Check with your employer to see if your donation qualifies for a Matching Gift and the impact of your donation will go even further. Signing up for recurring contributions online allows you to automatically make the greatest impact by supporting our critical work each month. The Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans is a private, not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization. Nonprofit Tax ID Number 36-4337985. Your donations are tax deductible to the extent of the law.

Ways to get involved

There are many ways to partner with Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans and join others who believe in and support our mission. You can help spread the word about our work, donate your time, make a financial gift, attend or host a fundraiser, or organize a supply drive for MSHV.

Stayed Informed

Signing up for emails and newsletters allows you to stay connected to our programs and our successes. Your information will remain 100% private; we do not sell or share your email address. You can also follow us on Facebook, and spread the word about our work!

Volunteer

MSHV relies on volunteers to fulfill our mission, especially in our Freedom Commissary. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups and we make every effort to match the volunteer with their area of interest.

Donate Gift Cards 

We accept gift cards throughout the year in any denomination. Gift cards to grocery stores, gas stations, and big box stores are used to directly support our veterans and families and to support the operations of our veteran housing programs. 

Contribute Monthly

Signing up for recurring contributions allows you to automatically make the greatest impact by supporting our critical work each month. Many choose to give monthly so they can more comfortably reach their desired annual donation amount. You can enroll in this option online or by completing and mailing in a donation form.

Give a Gift in Tribute

MSHV relies on volunteers to fulfill our mission, especially in our Freedom Commissary. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups and we make every effort to match the volunteer with their area of interest.

Attend or Sponsor an Event

MSHV hosts an annual Golf Outing and Texas BBQ in August. There are many ways for individuals and businesses to support this event from volunteering, to golf participation and sponsorship. Additional events are held annually on behalf of MSHV. Please contact us to learn more, or see featured Events at the bottom of this page.

Host a Fundraiser or Drive

Get your community, club or team involved in an event to fund-raise on behalf of MSHV! Individuals can make a difference too – people you know are more likely to get involved in a mission you are passionate about. Ask friends and family to match your donation, donate in honor of your birthday, participate in a race, or host a one day donation drive in support of MSHV’s work.  Please see our Event Guidelines and Application below.

Planned Giving

Make a lasting impact at Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans through a variety of estate plan gifts. There are many options that allow you to make a gift and take advantage of current tax incentives. For more information on available giving.

Donate Assets

A gift of stock or other securities can make a sustaining impact on the future work of MSHV. Since many securities have appreciated in value since their purchase, they make an attractive gift under current tax law.
